Dana Dugan joined the Environmental Health News team in October 2007. She became a senior researcher and morning chat manager in April 2008. Now, she is Assistant Editor/Social Media and will manage and build the social media followings for both EHN and TDC.
She also oversees the morning team and manages the morning chat schedule. She helps with questions from web researchers and assists the editors with various tasks such as adding photos to the front page.
Dana has worked in the environmental field for over 11 years, including several years in the environmental consulting industry, where her primary focus was on environmental impacts and mitigation for wetlands and waterways, as it relates to transportation and other types of development.
Prior to her experience in the consulting world, she worked as an intern at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, where she was able to complete her studies on heavy metal contamination within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. She also has experience in environmental education, through her work at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Philadelphia University, which was a new area of study for the school at that time. Upon her graduation, she was part of a small group with that degree.
Dana lives in northern Wilmington, Del., and enjoys implementing green living, not only as a way to help the planet, but also because she sees it as a way to save some green too.
